Auro Realty, the real estate arm of Aurobindo Group, has acquired the iconic Hotel Taj Banjara property in Hyderabad for Rs. 315 crore, according to a document accessed by Propstack.
The asset, owned by Hotel Banjara, spans 16,645 square yards in the upscale Banjara Hills, one of the city’s most premium commercial and tech corridors.
The site includes a 1.2 lakh sq. ft. built-up area. The transaction was completed on October 31, 2025, with Auro Realty paying Rs. 17.3 crore in stamp duty.
Key Highlights
The acquisition comes after the landmark hotel faced regulatory issues earlier this year. GHMC officials had locked the property over two years of unpaid taxes, reopening it only after partial payment by the owners, as per media reports.
In October 2025, Reuters reported that Auro Realty planned to raise Rs. 20 billion through a bond sale to fund a major acquisition strategy. The company is preparing to issue two-year and four-year bonds with coupon rates between 11 percent and 15 percent. Bankers told Reuters that this financing is structured as promoter-level funding, aimed at purchasing key assets — specifically citing the Hotel Taj Banjara Hyderabad.
