UP Housing Board Plans 1,000-Acre Township in Prayagraj

The Uttar Pradesh Housing and Development Board (Awas Vikas Parishad) has unveiled plans for a major township project in Prayagraj, covering nearly 1,000 acres near Phaphamau.

Surveys across ten villages have been completed to identify land parcels, with final selection expected soon. Board officials emphasized that flood safety is a priority, with the proposed township set at least 500 meters away from flood-prone areas. Site inspections were carried out to study terrain and flood patterns before moving forward.

The project promises a self-sufficient township featuring modern civic infrastructure, including underground sewage and drainage, advanced street lighting, landscaped parks, and community spaces. The township aims to deliver affordable housing with enhanced living standards for future residents.

Before formal launch, the Board will seek environmental clearances. Following approvals, land acquisition will proceed under two models—direct farmer compensation or land pooling—ensuring that farmers can also benefit from the development as stakeholders.

According to Board Secretary Neeraj Shukla, the project is part of the Board’s broader plan to expand housing availability across Uttar Pradesh’s major cities. “The new township in Prayagraj will benefit thousands of residents by offering quality housing and improved civic amenities,” Shukla said.
