Home Buyers Protest Shapoorji Pallonji Flat Delay in Bengaluru

On Saturday hundreds of the aggrieved home buyers protested silently against the inordinate delay in the handing over of flats to them by the Shapoorji Pallonji Group and the successive extensions that were granted to the builder by the Karnataka Real Estate Regulatory Authority (KRERA).

The owners of flats in the Parkwest Magnolia Tower 5 and 6 claimed that their property should be available to them long before 2021 when COVID-19 intervened in the way helping the builders to procure extension of time with KRERA. The home buyers told me that KRERA induced them to enter into settlement arrangements to secure the flats by September 2024 but the builder did not deliver the flats to the home buyers who already paid 90 per cent of the amount.

  • Home buyers of Parkwest Magnolia Tower 5 & 6 protest delayed flat handover by Shapoorji Pallonji Group despite 90 percent payments.
  • KRERA granted multiple project extensions post-COVID, but buyers claim no significant construction progress.
  • Buyers threaten hunger strike on June 21 to push for timely completion and possession of their homes.

“We have been waiting for more than six years to get the flats for which we have paid 90 percent of the total amount. We met the authorities of Shapoorji Pallonji Parkwest project but nothing has been done to expedite the completion of the construction,’’ said Suraj Shanbhag, one of the home buyers

Demanding the builder to complete the construction of Tower 5 and 6 as early as possible, Piyush Mehta, one of the home buyers, said that he booked a flat in Tower 6 during the year 2016 and the builder was supposed to handover the flat to him in 2020. “I am yet to get the flat till date. The KRERA has given three extensions to the builder but the construction is yet to be completed. I rented a flat at the adjacent tower and have been paying rent for six and a half years. I met the project manager but in vain,’’ said Mehta. He said that home buyers wanted the builder to garner sufficient money to complete the pending work.

Replying to a Shapoorji Pallonji Real estate spokesperson, the spokesperson said, we are taking the concerns raised by customers of Tower 5 and Tower 6 at Parkwest seriously. We appreciate their anxiety and assured all the stakeholders that we shall concentrate on completion and delivery of their homes fully. They have consulted with the representatives of the residents and finalized an organizational funding plan to achieve the targeted end date within the given time which has been stated by its spokesperson.
