IHG Hotels & Resorts signs a franchise agreement for the 40-key Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, its first Garner property in Ahmedabad, with the hotel scheduled to open in 2029 and managed by UHM India.
IHG Hotels & Resorts adds to its expansion plans in India with the signing of the franchise agreement for Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, which brings the Garner brand to Ahmedabad for the first time. This 40-key hotel will be opened in 2029, and the construction is being done by Devpriya Buildcon. The agreement strengthens the ties between IHG and UHM in their expansion strategies within India.
The new hotel will be situated at the Motera-Sabarmati junction, located in the northern region of Ahmedabad city. This hotel site has potential due to increasing commercial activity within the area. Some demand generators for the site include the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati Bullet Train terminal, and corporate zones. This hotel will target tourists on business travel, attending sports activities and leisure travellers on a budget.

The Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will become a component of a mixed-use development that will include retail spaces, banqueting and food serving places, and a hospital. The hotel will consist of 40 rooms equipped according to the Garner brand ideology, emphasising comfort and functionality. The mixed-use development will create a system of interconnected services both for hotel guests and the local population.
Garner is IHG's brand that is expanding quickly through the conversion of its midscale chain of hotels, concentrating on basic things travellers care about such as convenience of location, quality accommodations, and breakfast. It will also leverage all the global distribution, operations, and reward system of IHG.
The signing signifies yet another move by UHM India into working in tandem with IHG. With its expertise in the local market in addition to its hotel management capability, UHM India is helping grow the number of IHG brands in India, both new and existing destinations. This signing comes after other recent signings by UHM India with IHG in 2026.
In terms of IHG’s view of Ahmedabad, it is considered to be a developing commercial hub due to its economic performance as well as good connectivity. It is believed that the city is a high-potential market for Garner given the need for well-located rooms.

Devpriya Buildcon recognises the economic growth, infrastructure development, and increased tourism in Ahmedabad as favourable factors for branded hospitality developments. The collaboration between Devpriya Buildcon, IHG, and UHM intends to develop a hospitality property that will be able to adapt to changing travel trends.
This signing will add to Garner’s expanding Indian portfolio, which also reflects the business model of IHG, whereby it enters high-growth markets through viable hotel brands. This will also be an addition to Garner's expanding portfolio, as the Ahmedabad property will open in 2029.
