Xiaomi launches the Mijia LED Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Edition in China with 500-lumen brightness, adjustable colour temperature from 2700K to 6500K and multi-bulb control without using Wi-Fi bandwidth.
The Chinese company Xiaomi has released the Mijia LED Bulb Bluetooth Mesh edition in China, creating yet another smart-lighting gadget for its expanding connected-home technology ecosystem. This new bulb is a combination of a dimmable light source and Bluetooth mesh connectivity technology, which means that many bulbs can work together without a Wi-Fi connection.
The new Mijia bulb has a minimalist design and utilises a standard E27 lamp holder base, which is suitable for normal fittings with the appropriate base. The emitting surface of the light bulb is made of high refractive index polycarbonate, while the whole design is similar to those by Xiaomi.

This bulb offers maximum light brightness at 500 lumens. This figure is considered by Xiaomi to be ideal for illuminating a medium-sized room. However, the lumens generated by the bulb are lower than those offered by the previous generation of Xiaomi Smart LED Bulb, which has a brightness of 806 lumens.
An important characteristic of the new product is the adjustable colour temperature that ranges from 2700K up to 6500K. Thus, users can either choose warm yellow light or cool white light based on their preference or activity. For instance, the adjustable colour temperature enables the same bulb to produce soft light during the evening hours and bright, cool light during the daytime.
The connectivity feature that is key to the product’s smart home capability is the Bluetooth mesh connectivity. It enables a number of compatible bulbs to interact with each other while being controlled at the same time without using up the wireless connection bandwidth in the household’s router. This could be especially beneficial for households with many smart lights.
The light bulb can be controlled using the Mi Home App or voice assistants that support the device, making it easier for users to control their lighting and other smart devices. With Bluetooth Mesh technology, smart lighting systems can function independently without relying solely on Wi-Fi connectivity.
Nevertheless, the new system is not compatible with Matter, the newly launched connectivity standard for smart homes that aims to enable device interactivity in the smart home setup. Thus, it can be difficult to use the bulb with other devices of multiple brands.

The Mijia LED Bulb Bluetooth Mesh Edition is sold in China for 29.9 yuan, which comes to approximately $5. At present, the product can be purchased on JD.com, although Xiaomi has not disclosed information on its global availability.
This is yet another step by Xiaomi towards making its brand synonymous with connected home gadgets which can be afforded by everyone, as the Mi Home Control Panel integrates smart controls, dimmable lighting and mesh networking. This new Mijia LED bulb reflects the efforts made by Xiaomi to enhance its Mijia product line with the increase in adoption of smart lighting systems by consumers.
