Poltrona Frau unveils the Archibald Sofa System, a new modular sofa system marking the latest evolution of the iconic Archibald family. Starting from the original concept, designer Jean-Marie Massaud has developed a system with generously proportioned upholstered seats and configurability designed to adapt to the needs of contemporary living. The system is completed by the Baldwin table series, also designed by Massaud and produced by Ceccotti Collezioni.

The Archibald Sofa System demonstrates how a strong identity can evolve while remaining true to itself - one of the core principles of the new “True Over Time” collection, which gathers all of the brand’s latest innovations. True Over Time conveys a world of authenticity, values, and consistency applied to design. The durability of a Poltrona Frau product goes beyond material strength or craftsmanship quality; it lies in its ability to preserve meaning over time, integrate seamlessly into spaces and daily life, and carry stories, habits, and memories. The Archibald Sofa System embodies this philosophy. It all begins with the Archibald armchair, introduced in 2009 and, over the years, one of Poltrona Frau’s most beloved pieces, a true contemporary icon.
The seating elements, available in various sizes, are designed to function independently: they can be freely combined in linear or corner configurations and rearranged over time to meet evolving living requirements.
The Baldwin tables in wood by Ceccotti Collezioni have solid ash wood frames and tops in marble, wood or glass, with sculptural shapes and rounded profiles that bring elegance and harmony to the large square or rectangular surfaces. Their design complements the soft curves of the Archibald sofas, fitting between or facing the seating to create functional and refined surfaces. Available in various heights and sizes, the tables can be placed side by side or partially overlapped, allowing for dynamic compositions and arrangements.

The Archibald Sofa System features seat and backrest structures in birch plywood, with a frame of birch plywood panels reinforced by a black-painted steel chassis. The armrests and corner backrests are made of shaped polyurethane foam. Legs are available in solid ash wood in Moka or Wengé finishes, or in zamak cast in Gunmetal, Brunit, or Titanium. Seat cushions come in Soft Comfort, which gently conforms for a relaxed, enveloping feel, or Firm Comfort, denser for more structured support. Both options feature feather-free padding that naturally retains its shape. Upholstery can be in Pelle Frau leather or removable fabric, with fabric versions keeping a lower frame covered in Pelle Frau leather in various finishes and colors. Leather versions are detailed with tone-on-tone stitching along edges and surfaces, and the Poltrona Frau logo is hot-stamped on a leather tab at the back of the backrests.
Baldwin tables feature frames crafted from ash wood in Moka or Wengé finishes, paired with tops in glass, wood, or marble. Marble tops are available in the following finishes: Calacatta, Mediterraneo, Cervaiole, Arabescato, or Cipollino, with chamfered corners. They come in heights of 28, 36, or 46 cm, with square or rectangular tops in a range of sizes, offering both elegance and versatility for any living space.
