Polo Hotels Plans Rs 103 Cr Five-Star Hotel in Silchar

The Assam Cabinet has given consent to the construction of the first five star hotel at Silchar and this is a great step towards the enhancements of hospitality infrastructures in the Barak Valley region. Pollo Hotels Group will develop the project at an approximate investment of 103 crore rupee.

Providing the decision, Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the new luxury hotel will be a significant step of the city and it will offer the world-class accommodation and serve the increasing tourism and business ecosystem in the region.

The proposed hotel will have approximately 100 high-quality rooms and suites that will be in line with the international hospitality norms but with the addition of cultural identity of Barak Valley. Some of the amenities that will be provided include specialty restaurants and bars, swimming pool, spa and wellness centre, fitness facilities as well as dedicated banquet and conference halls that can be used to host corporate events, meetings and weddings.

According to industry observers, the hospitality industry in India has witnessed a robust momentum over the last few years due to the growth of domestic tourism and the increase of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) in the up-and-coming cities in the region.

Deval Tibrewalla, Chief Executive Officer of Polo Hotels Group, says that Silchar is the major gateway to the Northeast of India and it needs modern hospitality building to accommodate its growing economic and institutional significance.

In addition to tourism development, the project will lead to a high level of economic benefit to the region. Such large-scale hospitality projects generally generate large direct and indirect jobs, local supply chains, transportation services, event management businesses, and other community based businesses within the Barak Valley.
