
The Odisha government has approved 55 new hotel and accommodation projects since July 2024, involving a total investment of Rs. 3,211.32 crore, delivering a major boost to the state’s tourism and hospitality infrastructure.
The approvals underline Odisha’s growing focus on positioning itself as a high-potential tourism destination in India, supported by policy-driven investment and infrastructure development.
The approved projects span a diverse hospitality mix, including five-star luxury hotels, eco-resorts, and budget-friendly accommodations.

Bhubaneswar continues to emerge as a key hospitality hub, attracting several marquee developments. Leading global and national hotel brands such as World of Hyatt, ITC Hotels, Accor, Marriott Bonvoy, and Radisson Hotels are spearheading premium investments. Notable projects include a Rs. 139 crore Hyatt hotel and a Rs. 119.14 crore ITC property in Bhubaneswar, reinforcing the city’s status as a major business and tourism centre.
Beyond urban centres, the Odisha tourism development strategy places strong emphasis on tribal and remote regions such as Koraput, Keonjhar, Kandhamal, and Ganjam. These projects are designed to promote eco-tourism and scenic tourism, unlocking new destinations while supporting sustainable development.

Meanwhile, coastal tourism destinations are witnessing significant expansion. Puri and Chilika Lake are attracting high-end resort investments, including a Rs. 212.25 crore Marriott Bonvoy luxury resort and a Rs. 110 crore ITC resort at Somolo Island. Collectively, these projects strengthen Odisha’s luxury resort portfolio while enhancing its appeal across leisure, spiritual, and nature-based tourism segments.
