
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Lumbini Heritage to develop Crowne Plaza Lumbini, marking the second Crowne Plaza hotel in Nepal and strengthening IHG’s premium brand presence in South Asia.
Scheduled to open in 2026, the upcoming 147-key property will cater to both spiritual tourists and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) travellers, further elevating Lumbini’s global hospitality profile. The hotel will be strategically located just four kilometres from the main pilgrimage site and 18 kilometres from Gautam Buddha Airport, making it ideal for domestic and international visitors.

Designed with 137 rooms and 10 suites, the property will feature a large banquet hall, modern meeting facilities, and the signature Crowne Plaza hospitality experience combining business efficiency with leisure luxury.
According to Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, the project highlights IHG’s continued commitment to expanding its footprint across high-potential spiritual and cultural destinations. Subhash Amatya, Chairman of Lumbini Heritage, said the hotel will set new benchmarks for premium hospitality in Nepal, aligning with the country’s vision to promote religious and experiential tourism.
