The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the group behind the iconic Taj brand, has signed a deal to open a new luxury hotel in Pondicherry. The Taj Pondicherry will be built on a 52-acre site just outside the city’s charming White Town, offering stunning views of the Bay of Bengal.
This is a fresh project, developed in partnership with M.K. Rajagopalan, founder of MGM Healthcare. The hotel will have 180 rooms and combine Taj’s classic elegance with Pondicherry’s unique French-colonial vibe and peaceful beaches.
Guests can look forward to an all-day restaurant, two specialty dining spots, a stylish bar, and the brand’s signature J Wellness Circle spa.
There will also be a modern gym, an infinity pool, and plenty of event space—including a 10,700-square-foot indoor hall, the largest in the area, plus beachfront lawns for weddings and gatherings.
