Hilton Boosts South India Presence with New Chennai Hotel

Hilton is expanding its footprint in South India with the signing of Hilton Chennai Egmore, a new hotel set to open in January 2029.

Partnering with MKR Estate Developers Private Limited, part of the MGM Healthcare Group, this will be Hilton’s second hotel in Chennai, joining the existing Hilton Chennai.

Located in the heart of Egmore, a lively cultural and business district, the hotel will be part of a mixed-use complex that includes office spaces, making it a hotspot for both business travelers and tourists.

The Hilton Chennai Egmore will feature 195 spacious rooms and suites, with standard rooms around 390 square feet, perfect for work or relaxation. Guests can look forward to a variety of dining options, including an all-day restaurant, specialty spots, a lobby bar, and a trendy rooftop lounge.

 The hotel will also offer wellness perks like a spa, fitness center, and indoor/outdoor pools, plus fun extras like a bowling alley and a kids’ play area. With nearly 17,000 square feet of event space, including two large ballrooms, a meeting room, and a boardroom, it’s set to be a top choice for conferences and celebrations.

Clarence Tan, Hilton’s Senior Vice President of Development for Asia Pacific, said the hotel will cater to Chennai’s growing demand for high-quality hospitality. Zubin Saxena, Hilton’s South Asia head, highlighted the city’s importance as a hub for business and leisure. MK Rajagopalan, Chairman of MGM Healthcare Group, believes this project will help transform Egmore into a vibrant urban center.

With over 65 hotels already in South Asia and plans to grow to 300 in the next decade, Hilton is doubling down on India, aiming to meet the needs of its dynamic market.
