Synopsis: Accor launches its luxury eco-hospitality brand Mantis in India with a wildlife resort near Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, strengthening its sustainability-focused expansion strategy across South Asia.
Accor has officially introduced its luxury eco hospitality brand Mantis, in India and South Asia, with the signing of Mantis Nagarhole in Karnataka. This move signals the brand’s regional debut and also shows how Accor is putting more emphasis on something like experiential, sustainability driven travel, across emerging leisure places.
The soon to be resort will be set up close to the Nagarhole Tiger Reserve, inside the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, which is still counted as one of India’s most important wildlife habitats. It’s planned to open in 2028 and the place is likely to include 31 luxury stays meant to sit gently within the nearby forest scene while still giving a top tier wilderness vibe. Visitors are expected to enjoy escorted safaris, well-being programs, regional cultural moments, and carefully shaped nature experiences, all of it a bit more experiential than your usual getaway.

Accor says that the project sorta aligns with the growing global need for travel that is more eco minded, and for those immersive hospitality moments that feel somehow real. The company wants to, in effect, position the resort as a sort of yardstick for sustainable luxury tourism by folding biodiversity protection, community participation, and environmentally sound operations into the property development approach.
The project is being developed in partnership with hospitality entrepreneur Hirehal Jairaj Balram and it also sort of fits into Accor’s bigger expansion move in India, you know. The hospitality group has been rapidly reinforcing its presence in the country via luxury, lifestyle, and nature centered brands, aided by the strategic alliance with Inter Globe. Right now, Accor is laying out aggressive growth plans across India, aiming for a hospitality network that’s much bigger by the end of the decade.

The intro of Mantis also sort of shows, how sustainable tourism is becoming more and more important in the worldwide hospitality space. Nature driven luxury moments, conservation based tourism, and low impact resort developments are getting more traction lately, with high end travelers who are after a more purpose orientated and environmentally responsible way of traveling.
