According to a senior company official, Mahindra & Mahindra has sent a letter of interest to the Maharashtra government to purchase 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, Maharashtra.
The automaker, which is headquartered in Mumbai, already operates production facilities in Igatpuri and Nashik.
According to him, a feeder facility nearby would be advantageous for the Nashik and Igatpuri plants.

"We have submitted a letter of interest for 350 acres of land in Igatpuri, which is part of our ecosystem," Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) Executive Director and CEO for auto and farm sectors Rajesh Jejurikar said.
He pointed out that the business is still in the early stages and would need to complete the entire due diligence procedure before obtaining a different level of permission for the land purchase.
"The land parcel could be used for multiple things, including setting up a supplier park and anything that we may need more for either Nashik or the Igatpuri plant," he added.

In the first phase of this year, Mahindra & Mahindra plans to increase the production capacity of its Chakan-based manufacturing by about 2.4 lakh units, according to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the company's automotive division.
Following the expansion, the plant's total manufacturing capacity would increase to 7.5 to 7.6 lakh units annually. Between FY25 and FY27, Mahindra intends to invest over Rs. 27,000 crore in its automotive division.
