Marbleous, a luxury home decor startup based in Jaipur, has received tremendous publicity following an investment by the successful business reality show, Shark Tank India Season 5.

The brand was started by businessmen Shashank Sharma and Ayushi Sharma, who went into the show seeking an investment of 75 lakh rupees to get a 10 percent share in the business, which puts the brand in the company of the new generation of direct-to-consumer (D2C) companies that are creating the premium home decor market in India. Marbleous is an expensive home decor and lifestyle company dealing with handmade products of marble that is aimed at combining ancient skills and modern design.

The company designs an assortment of decor and utilitarian lifestyle products such as coasters, vases, serveware, cutlery holders, and accessories of the table. The brand also aims at providing products based on the modern and classic interior style by combining marble with other complementary materials (brass, wood, resin).

In the pitch presentation, the founders emphasized that Marbleous is inspired by the centuries-old stone craftsmanship of India but is aimed at the world luxury decoration market segment.

Investor Kanika Tekriwal had bidden Rs 75 lakh 20 percent equity and a royalty of 2 percent on the invested capital till the invested capital is repaid. The deal was accepted by the founders, who received funding, as well as strategic mentorship to grow the brand.

The fund is an indication of increased investor exposure to design based D2C brands that incorporate traditional craftsmanship with contemporary consumer tastes. Having marble craftsmanship at its heart, Marbleous is developing a digitally powered brand that portrays the Indian artisanship through the lens of high-quality but affordable decoration products.

Going forward, the company will diversify its products, increase its presence on the internet and tap the opportunities in retail consumers, corporate gifting, hospitality, and interior design projects to position the company to grow with the changing luxury decor market in India.
