IHCL & Ambuja Neotia to Launch 15 Hotels Across the East

Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), the Tata Group’s hospitality arm and parent company of Taj Hotels, has significantly expanded its partnership with Ambuja Neotia Group to develop 15 new hotels across West Bengal, Sikkim, and Himachal Pradesh over the next 3 to 7 years.

This strategic collaboration underscores IHCL’s vision to strengthen its presence in Eastern and Northeastern India and tap into emerging leisure and spiritual travel circuits. The development will include a mix of greenfield, brownfield, and conversion projects under IHCL’s diverse brand portfolio, such as Taj, SeleQtions, and Tree of Life.

Noteworthy additions include Taj-branded villas and resorts in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Raichak, and Lataguri, along with new properties in Shimla, Siliguri, and the Sunderbans.

“This capital light arrangement will grow the partnership between the groups to over 40 hotels,” said Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO of IHCL. The collaboration targets doubling IHCL’s hotel portfolio to over 700 by 2030.

Ambuja Neotia Group plans to invest approximately Rs. 2,500 crore, primarily funded through internal accruals, debt, and potential future fundraising. Four hotels are already under construction and expected to be operational within three years.
