Leela Expands in Coorg with New Luxury Resort Deal

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts has declared the purchase of a highly luxurious resort in Coorg as it is strategic in its venture into immersive, nature-themed and wellness focused hospitality.

The project, consisting of 71 all-villa accommodation, covering 76 acres of the green scenery, near Madikeri, will be rolled out in the form of The Leela Coorg Forest Sanctuary later in the year.

This addition makes The Leela a 15-property portfolio comprising of more than 4,160 keys, in 13 cities around the world. The portfolio comprises of seven owned hotels, seven managed hotels, and a single franchised hotel.

The brand is still on its vigorous expansion path and has nine properties already in the pipeline and hopes to have up to 24 hotels in the next three years. The next destinations will be Agra, Ayodhya, Bandhavgarh, Mumbai, Ranthambore, Sikkim, Srinagar and Jaisalmer.

Anuraag Bhatnagar, CEO, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, said that the development fits the 40-year legacy of the company, as well as heralds the transformation of the company towards experiential luxury based on the themes of wellness and nature. He stressed that Coorg enhances the brand presence in South India and solidifies its concept of developing the balanced presence in the most classic destinations in India.

The property has been designed to have a growth potential as 19 additional villas can be added in the initial phase to bring the total inventory up to 91 keys.
