Telangana Launches Indiramma Housing Scheme in Hyderabad

Synopsis: The Telangana government launches the Indiramma Houses scheme in Hyderabad, beginning construction of affordable homes for eligible beneficiaries under its flagship housing initiative aimed at expanding access to permanent housing for economically weaker families.

The Telangana government has launched the Indiramma Houses scheme in Hyderabad, marking the rollout of its flagship affordable housing programme in the state capital. The initiative aims to provide permanent housing to economically weaker sections (EWS) and low-income families while strengthening urban housing infrastructure and improving living conditions for eligible beneficiaries.

The launch forms part of the state's broader commitment to expanding access to safe, secure, and dignified housing across Telangana.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy inaugurated the programme by laying the foundation stone for the first phase of housing construction in Hyderabad. The project is expected to benefit thousands of families who currently lack permanent housing or live in inadequate conditions. Under the scheme, the government will support the construction of individual houses for eligible beneficiaries, with financial assistance provided in phases to ensure timely completion of the projects.

The Indiramma Houses scheme has been designed to address the state's affordable housing requirements by prioritising economically weaker households. Beneficiaries are selected based on eligibility criteria established by the government, with preference given to families without permanent homes. The initiative also seeks to improve urban infrastructure by promoting planned residential development and expanding access to basic civic amenities.

Officials stated that the programme will be implemented in coordination with local authorities to ensure transparency in beneficiary identification, fund disbursement, and project execution. The government has introduced monitoring mechanisms to track construction progress and facilitate timely completion of houses. These measures are intended to ensure efficient utilisation of public funds while maintaining quality standards in housing construction.

Beyond Hyderabad, the Telangana government plans to expand the Indiramma Houses scheme across urban and rural areas of the state in a phased manner. The programme is expected to generate employment opportunities in the construction sector while stimulating demand for building materials and related services. It also aligns with the state's objective of promoting inclusive development through improved housing and social welfare initiatives.
