Indian Women Turn to Real Estate as Top Investment Choice

Indian women investors

Sentiment Survey H2 2025, around 66% of women now view real estate as their primary investment vehicle, surpassing traditional options like gold and fixed deposits (FDs).

The stock market has limited appeal, with just 3% of women considering it an option, down from 20% in 2019.

The rise of women high-net-worth individuals (HNIs) is reshaping homebuyer trends. Nearly 61% of women homebuyers are targeting homes priced above ₹90 lakh, up sharply from 25% in 2019.

Key Highlights

  • 66% of Indian women now prefer real estate over traditional investments
  • Majority target premium homes above ₹90 lakh, with growing luxury demand
  • 3BHK and new-launch homes dominate women’s property preferences

Within this, 37% prefer properties priced ₹90 lakh–₹1.5 crore, 14% opt for ₹1.5–2.5 crore, and 10% favor homes above ₹2.5 crore, signaling growing confidence in premium and luxury investments.

Bigger homes dominate women’s preferences, with 54% favoring 3BHK and 14% selecting 4BHK+ homes, reflecting an ongoing trend from prior years. Additionally, women increasingly prefer newly launched properties, with 20% showing interest, up from just 9% in 2019, while demand for ready-to-move-in homes has slightly declined to 32%.

“The modern Indian woman prefers brick and mortar over traditional FDs and gold on the back of their growing financial independence and hunger for high-yield assets. For 66% of women, real estate is now the ultimate investment vehicle. While gold and FDs still have a place, the stock market - at just 3% - is barely on the radar. Women are not just saving for the future but casting it in concrete,” states Santhosh Kumar, Vice Chairman – ANAROCK Group.

“This not-so-stark contrast between the two periods clearly indicates that women homebuyers' preference for spacious homes over smaller ones is not breaking news. Interestingly, their interest in 1BHKs has shrunk further to 4% in H2 2025 against 8% in H2 2022,” he added.

Real estate’s end-use-to-investment ratio among women buyers now stands at 71:29, highlighting the shift toward investment-driven purchasing. Gold remains the second most preferred asset at 18%, while FDs are at 13%.
