In the backdrop of increasing tensions between India and Pakistan, in the wake of retaliatory missile strikes by India on terror targets across the border in response to the Pahalgam attack, the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), the country’s largest real estate body expresses readiness to build military infrastructure, housing and other government dictates at accelerated pace.
Tensions got worse when on early April 7 Indian armed forces conducted missile strikes against 9 terror locations in Pakistan and PoK including the home of the Jaish-e-Mohammad: Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke in retaliation for the April 22 terrorist attack that happened in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 8, CREDAI president Shekhar G Patel has penned an appeal to the real estate sector to provide unwavering support and be ready to assist the Centre in any infrastructure driven initiatives that are to be undertaken in service of the nation.
As people in the know of the matter will explain, military infrastructure that the CREDAI has been willing to help would include military structures, bunkers, roads, etc. It has also offered bail to help in the construction of dwellings for displaced people if necessary. The real estate body has also pledged quick on-ground execution, reducing lead time through preparation and roll out of pre-worked out, terrain attuned layouts.
CREDAI even offered to come up with a pan-India list of Members-developers and civil engineers, construction workers, architects and city planner who can be instantly deployed on the infrastructure-related activity. The real estate body also indicated that it will liaise with suppliers to ensure access to important materials and equipment with speed in case of need.
“Through our pan-India developer network, technical capabilities and skilled workforce, we are fully prepared to support any infrastructure-led initiatives that may be required in national interest. We have already initiated the process by reaching out to member-developers across the country and are identifying key vendors,” Patel said.
It added that the developers’ body can also prepare a detailed action plan, which will include central registry of developers, planners, suppliers and workforce teams involved.
