From Tokyo to Bangkok: A Culinary Journey Across Asia
YAZU’s arrival in Bangalore brings with it a menu that celebrates the depth and diversity of Pan-Asian cuisine. Drawing inspiration from across the continent, it blends authenticity with innovation, showcasing refined techniques and thoughtful craftsmanship. The menu spans Japanese, Thai, Korean, Chinese, and Southeast Asian influences - each dish designed to surprise and delight in equal measure.
Menu highlights are less a list, more an invitation to explore:
Tartare and ceviche layered with vibrant dressings and the freshness of just-cut herbs.
A sushi bar that feels like a jewel box of the sea - hand-rolled nigiri, pristine sashimi, and artful sharing platters.
Comfort in every bowl - from steaming ramen and poke to fragrant rice dishes, vegetarian and otherwise.
Robata-grilled perfection: miso-glazed Black Cod, Hokkaido scallops, and char-kissed vegetables.
Delicate dimsum that disappears too quickly - truffle edamame, sriracha chicken, and more.
And to end, indulgent desserts - molten chocolate soufflé, sesame crisps, mango cheesecake, each one a quiet finale.
A Cup, A Pause: Tea & Dessert, Redefined:
For Bangalore’s slower afternoons and softer evenings, YAZU introduces a tea ritual in collaboration with Tea Culture. Rooibos from South Africa, calming chamomile, Kashmiri kahwa rich with saffron and spice, Mt. Wuyi oolong, each cup is a moment of calm and contemplation. Paired with coconut panna cotta or house-made gelatos, it’s an ending that feels both refined and comforting - a lingering note of warmth to close the meal.
High Spirits of Asia: A Journey in Every Glass:
At YAZU Bangalore, the bar is helmed by Kaustubh Sawardekar, who believes in taking guests on a journey, not through theatrics, but through flavour. His approach is rooted in storytelling, capturing the spirit of Asia’s streets, markets, and cities in every glass. The cocktail program, aptly named “High Spirits of Asia,” is a bold exploration of the continent, each drink a reflection of place, memory, and craft.
The journey begins in Thailand with Tomm Yummm, a clarified gin cocktail inspired by Bangkok’s iconic soup, bright with lime leaf, lemongrass, and galangal. Pickle in My Tickle follows, an Indo-Korean fusion of clarified pickled raw mango and ginger seltzer - tangy, smoky, and playful. From there, travel to Indonesia with Rasa Tropis, a tropical rum highball of lychee, pandan, and coconut - light, effervescent, and full of island soul. The Philippines’ Golden Hour gives the Carabao mango a Negroni spin - fruity, bittersweet, and sunset-ready.
China inspires two standouts: Umami Cloud, a shiitake and coffee whiskey creation topped with miso foam that is indulgent and savoury; and Tishen De, a sparkling muskmelon spritz that’s fruity, floral, and endlessly refreshing. From Vietnam, Reverse Brew reinvents the street-side coffee with mezcal, cold brew, and coconut foam. And from Japan, Umi-so pays homage to the refined palate with sake, Choya plum wine, and miso liqueur adding a delicate balance of umami and elegance. Completing the experience, YAZU elevates the classic G&T with artisanal gin infusions made from globally sourced botanicals and house-made tonic, offering a smooth, nuanced finish to the voyage.
Sophisticated Yet Soulful: The YAZU Aesthetic
Designed by leading architect & interior designer Sumessh Menon, Yazu Bangalore embodies the essence of Asia through expressive architecture and immersive sensory storytelling. At its heart lies the ‘Open Terrace Bar’, a signature space that captures the spirit of the restaurant. Seamlessly merging the indoors and outdoors, it offers sweeping views of the city bathed in sunset hues and cooled by evening breezes, creating an atmosphere that feels effortlessly alive and inviting.
The overall design radiates a sense of crafted warmth, weaving together elements of culture, artistry, and calm. Drawing from the rhythms of everyday Asian life, the space features handcrafted wooden rafters reminiscent of Japanese homes, life-sized figurines of rural women unveiling a scroll, and a tranquil waterbody that shrouds the terrace in a gentle mist, creating a mood that is both meditative and vivid.
The bar ceiling serves as a visual and spiritual focal point. Handpainted scrolls suspended from wooden frames narrate a striking story: amidst burgundy turbulence, Buddha rests in serene radiance, balanced between negative and positive energies. Crafted by Ledomatics, the artwork transforms the ceiling into a canvas of calm within chaos.
Floral details and Asian-inspired sculptures further enrich this carefully researched, culture-rooted aesthetic, making Yazu Bangalore a living expression of art, craft, and comfort.

“Bangalore has always had an appetite for things that are done well, whether it's coffee, tech, or dinner. People here don't just want to eat; they want to know where the ingredients came from, who's in the kitchen, what the story is. YAZU fits that energy. It's a restaurant for people who care about craft, who value authenticity”, adds Ranbir Nagpal.
With a vision that extends far beyond the plate, YAZU is a premium Pan-Asian dining and lifestyle destination, a space to gather for elegant lunches, for couples to discover intimate corners, and friends to celebrate high-energy evenings that flow from refined dining into vibrant nightlife.
