Sayaji Hotels Expands Across India's Spiritual Hubs

Sayaji Hotels Ltd has announced the signing of four new hotels across Somnath, Ujjain, Nashik, and Varanasi, strengthening its presence in India's rapidly growing spiritual tourism corridor. The expansion, timed with the Shravan season, reflects the group's strategy to tap into rising pilgrimage travel and the increasing demand for quality hospitality infrastructure.

Sayaji Hotels Ltd has expanded its footprint in India's spiritual tourism market by signing four new hotels across the country's leading pilgrimage destinations-Enrise by Sayaji in Somnath and Ujjain, and Effotel by Sayaji in Nashik and Varanasi.

Announced at the start of the auspicious Shravan season, the expansion aligns with the group's strategy of strengthening its presence in high-growth religious travel destinations while catering to the rising demand for organised hospitality.

The new properties are located in four of India's most visited pilgrimage centres. Somnath, home to one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, marks Sayaji Hotels' debut in Gujarat's iconic religious destination. Ujjain, known for the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga and the Simhastha Kumbh Mela, becomes another strategic addition to the group's expanding hospitality network. In Nashik, the company is introducing the Effotel brand while strengthening its existing presence in a city recognised for the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, Kumbh Mela, wine tourism, and growing business activity. The fourth property in Varanasi, one of the world's oldest living cities, marks the group's entry into one of India's most significant spiritual and cultural destinations.

According to Sayaji Hotels, the expansion is driven by the rapid growth of India's spiritual tourism sector, supported by improved infrastructure, better connectivity, and increasing domestic travel. Industry estimates project India's spiritual tourism economy to reach nearly US$59 billion by 2028, creating significant opportunities for organised hospitality brands to serve pilgrims, leisure travellers, families, and business visitors.

Managing Director Raoof Dhanani said the company remains confident in the long-term growth potential of pilgrimage destinations, noting that improved accessibility and changing traveller preferences have transformed faith-based travel into one of India's fastest-growing tourism segments. He added that the four new signings reinforce the company's commitment to delivering personalised hospitality experiences across emerging travel markets.

The expansion also aligns with ongoing government initiatives to strengthen tourism infrastructure at major pilgrimage destinations through programmes such as PRASHAD and Swadesh Darshan, which support improved visitor amenities and heritage conservation. Enhanced infrastructure at destinations including Varanasi, Nashik, and other religious centres has contributed to rising tourist arrivals and increased investment in the hospitality sector.
