LG Unveils ThinQ Claw AI Agent for Smarter Connected Homes

LG unveils ThinQ Claw, a context-aware AI agent for smart homes that understands user intent, coordinates connected devices and services, learns preferences and supports personalised automation across the home.

This year at IFA 2026, LG Electronics will showcase the most recent development of its AI Home platform, where the major emphasis will be placed on contextual automation, conversational AI, and compatibility between multi-brands of smart homes. The core of LG’s demo is a text-based AI agent named ThinQ Claw that understands the context and works with connected devices.

Unlike typical smart homes that rely on commands or set schedules, ThinQ Claw uses the context of the user’s request to understand what action should be taken. This technology can take into account the plans of the day, family routines, and data from connected devices before suggesting and implementing any action.

For instance, users may task the AI agent with preparing the house before an event. ThinQ Claw will be able to understand the command and organize related appliances. This includes setting up the temperatures of the rooms or organizing the kitchen appliances before the event takes place.

It also facilitates the integration of a calendar and other external services, enabling ThinQ Claw to link digital calendars with smart home processes. This will allow the system to utilize the data from external services while orchestrating activities on the interconnected devices. It can also save the user’s preferences and routines in the long run.

LG is at the same time broadening the smart home ecosystem in general with the help of Homey, an interconnected device created by the company Athom and acquired by LG in 2024. The Homey device ensures the ability to create a connection between various gadgets produced by other manufacturers using several smart home communication protocols.

Another aspect of the AI Home that is being developed by LG is the energy management function. LG is unveiling the Home Energy Management System (HEMS), which links together smart meters, solar panels, household battery systems, electric vehicle chargers, and appliances. This allows for real-time generation, storage, and usage of energy, taking into account any dynamic electricity prices where available.

ThinQ Pro from LG is not only being introduced to Europe but will also be available for use in non-residential places like multi-family units and commercial facilities in IFA 2026.

Security and privacy also remain important for the ecosystem. According to LG, communication between devices and data of the users are kept safe using the LG Shield security framework that LG uses to keep the system secure and the connected-home data safe.

The launch of the ThinQ Claw is indicative of the move by LG towards not only making connected appliances, but creating a full AI-managed household ecosystem. The combination of context, preferences, integration with third parties, and inter-brand connectivity allows for LG to create a smart-home experience that is more proactive in nature.
