Hyatt Centric Chandigarh Secures Top-Tier IGBC Platinum Certification

Hyatt​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Centric Chandigarh has been granted the IGBC Health & Wellbeing Platinum Rating by the Indian Green Building Council, which is the highest level of recognition under the IGBC standards.

It is the only one among Chandigarh's five-star hotels to earn the platinum rating, a testament to its dedication to occupant wellness, environmental stewardship, and responsible resource management.

The General Manager, Sohaib Kidwai, called the certification a major milestone for the hotel as well as for the city that goes Hyatt Centric Chandigarh's commitment to a healthier, future-ready hospitality without compromising guest experience. Indeed, the award points to the property's sustained efforts to innovate in an eco-friendly way and be a part of Chandigarh's design-led urban identity.

The hotel has interwoven sustainability into the fabric of its routine operations. An important step is their own water bottling facility which, by distributing purified drinking water in reusable glass bottles, does away with the single-use plastic.

Water is used more sparingly with the three-day or on-request linen refresh programme. Guest rooms are provided with environment-friendly amenities in large formats from which the guests can refill and plastic-free grooming essentials so that waste production is kept to a minimum.

The solar hot water system is responsible for up to 50% of the hotel’s annual hot water needs. Recycled water from the treatment plant is used for landscaping and other non-potable water-consuming activities.

The indoor air quality is improved through HVAC systems that comply with ASHRAE 62.1 standards, HEPA filtration, and the use of low-VOC materials. The use of GreenPro-certified cleaning agents and installation of energy-efficient lighting further help the hotel to maintain its pledge for sustainable, wellbeing-oriented ​‍​‌‍​‍‌​‍​‌‍​‍‌hospitality.
