Hilton has hit a major milestone with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, its 888th hotel in Greater China and Mongolia.
This luxurious new property in Shanghai’s lively Qiantan District in Pudong cements Hilton’s strong presence in one of the world’s most exciting hospitality markets.
Since opening its first hotel in mainland China in 1988, Hilton has grown rapidly, increasing its room count nearly ten times in the last 12 years. The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan, located along Shanghai’s new Bund, offers 204 spacious rooms and suites, each at least 52 square meters, with stunning river views and private balconies.
Guests can enjoy top-notch dining, including Arame’s Mediterranean-inspired dishes, Fu Cheng’s Michelin-starred Min cuisine by chef Justin Yang, the Starlight Room’s exclusive chef’s table, and the iconic Peacock Alley for special gatherings.
Key Highlights:
This opening makes Shanghai the third city worldwide, alongside Dubai and Doha, to have two Waldorf Astoria hotels. Hilton’s luxury lineup in China also includes properties in Beijing, Chengdu, Xiamen, and Shanghai on the Bund. Looking ahead, Hilton aims to open over 100 luxury and lifestyle hotels in Greater China, with projects like Waldorf Astoria Shenzhen (2028), LXR Hotels & Resorts Tianjin (2029), Conrad Zhoushan (2028), and Curio Collection hotels in Quanzhou and Shanghai Yuqiao (2026).
