Goa has embarked on a transformative journey to redefine its tourism landscape with the foundation stone laying of four major projects.
They include Town Square in Porvorim, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Farmagudi, PM Ekta Mall (Unity Mall) in Chimbel, and an Eco-Tourism Project at Harvalem.
The event, attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, and Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte, marks a milestone in Goa’s vision of sustainable, cultural, and inclusive tourism.
Key Highlights
The Town Square in Porvorim will blend urban leisure with community life, featuring landscaped gardens, walking trails, open-air theatres, and event zones — designed to enrich both residents’ and tourists’ experiences. The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum in Farmagudi will celebrate the Maratha legacy and the maritime heritage of the Konkan region through immersive exhibits and interactive storytelling, becoming a hub for heritage education.
At Chimbel, the PM Ekta Mall, developed at an investment of Rs. 200 crore, will showcase India’s diverse handicrafts and “One District, One Product” offerings, promoting entrepreneurship, employment, and cultural exchange. Meanwhile, the Eco-Tourism Project at Harvalem will focus on biodiversity conservation, featuring eco-trails, interpretation centres, and sustainable visitor amenities designed to protect Goa’s natural ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended Goa’s efforts to balance tourism growth with heritage and environmental preservation, stating that “These projects reflect a forward-thinking vision of tourism that celebrates India’s diversity while empowering local communities.”
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant emphasized that the projects collectively represent Goa’s aspiration to create world-class tourism infrastructure that supports both cultural preservation and economic empowerment.

Minister for Tourism Rohan A. Khaunte noted, “Goa is transitioning from a season-based destination to a year-round experiential hub. Each of these projects reflects our commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth — connecting people to Goa’s culture, nature, and creativity.”
Together, these projects highlight Goa’s strategic shift from mass tourism to experience-based, sustainable, and culturally rooted tourism development.
