Fielia, a new invite-only bar in Mumbai, just opened at the Mahalaxmi Race Course. It's the first of its kind in India: an aperitivo bar that focuses on cocktails, set up like a Cocktail Cinema.
The idea is that drinking here becomes a really rich, all-around experience, like a show happening right in front of you. Afsana Verma, Amit Verma, and Dhaval Udeshi came up with Fielia, and Gauri Khan gave it her special design touch.
Key Highlights
• Invite-only cocktail-forward bar launched at Mahalaxmi Race Course
• Designed by Gauri Khan with a unique “Cocktail Cinema” concept
• Theatrical cocktails and aperitivo menu inspired by sin and scandal
This turned the racecourse's old mill building into a cozy, movie-like place. It has seating like you'd find in a fancy theater, a really tall ceiling, balconies that look like theater boxes, and a main bar where each drink being made is part of the show.

Maintaining the building's original pointy roof and industrial feel. The bar is split into two levels. Downstairs, it's a bit darker with iron staircases that lead up to a mezzanine, which feels like an old theater balcony.
Gauri Khan said they wanted the place to feel like a movie set but still warm and inviting. She used the building, different textures, and lighting to create that feeling.
Fielia is starting with a cocktail menu called Sin & Scandal, put together by Fay Barretto. The drinks tell stories inspired by famous historical and cultural scandals, using tricks, tales, and dramatic service. The food menu, created by Hitesh Shanbhag, matches the seven sins theme with fancy, small aperitivo dishes.
