Anjali Tendulkar, wife of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, has purchased a 391 sq ft apartment worth Rs. 32 lakh in Virar, part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The transaction, recorded in property registration documents accessed by Zapkey.com, was completed on May 30, 2025. The apartment is located on the third floor of Peninsula Heights, a residential building in Virar. As per the documents, Anjali Tendulkar paid Rs. 1.92 lakh in stamp duty and Rs. 30,000 in registration fees.
Key Highlights
Being a woman homebuyer in Maharashtra, she also availed a 1 percent concession on stamp duty, a benefit extended to women purchasing property in the state where stamp duty rates vary between 5 percent and 7 percent.
Local brokers indicate that residential property rates in Virar range from Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 9,000 per sq ft and above, depending on the locality. The deal aligns with this price band, reflecting Virar’s positioning as an affordable residential hub within the MMR, north of Mumbai’s core.
This acquisition comes months after another high-profile real estate move, when Gauri Khan, interior designer and wife of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, rented a 725 sq ft, 2BHK apartment in Khar West for staff at a monthly rent of Rs. 1.35 lakh, while their Pali Hill bungalow Mannat undergoes renovation.
While a response from Sachin Tendulkar’s office is awaited, Anjali Tendulkar’s investment highlights the continuing appeal of Virar as a value-for-money housing destination in the Mumbai region.
