IHCL Signs New Ginger Hotel in Kanpur to Boost Uttar Pradesh Presence

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed a contract with JK Urbanscapes Developers to open a new Ginger hotel in Kanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh, enhancing its footprint in growth Indian cities. The 100-key greenfield hotel will include Ginger's iconic all-day diner Qmin, a bar, a meeting space, and a fitness centre.

Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President, New Businesses and Hotel Openings, IHCL  said, "Kanpur is a key manufacturing and commercial hub in Uttar Pradesh, making it an ideal destination for Ginger's product. This deal is part of our plan to grow Ginger's footprint in such Tier II cities. We are happy to build on our association with JK Urbanscapes Developers."

The partnership underscores IHCL's ongoing emphasis on growing its midscale Ginger brand in markets with high growth. With the Kanpur signing, IHCL's Uttar Pradesh portfolio will increase to 34 hotels, of which 21 are already under development. IHCL, a Tata Group company established by Jamsetji Tata, has a wide portfolio of brands like Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions, and Tree of Life, with a global portfolio of 388 hotels spanning 14 countries and over 150 destinations.

Earlier in the year, IHCL also tied up with the Solitaire Group for the first five-star hotel in Ayodhya, Taj Ayodhya, and acquired a Gateway resort in Prayagraj, reflecting its focus on Uttar Pradesh's hospitality expansion.
