The allocation of 16 plots worth Rs. 2,000 crore has been canceled by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO), the Navi Mumbai Special Planning Authority (SPA), which is located close to Mumbai. The case targets buyers and developers who, in spite of numerous reminders and extensions, did not start development on these properties.
These plots of land were given to CIDCO for the development of homes and businesses. However, the authority has regained ownership of the plots because no construction has occurred.
CIDCO leases property through residential, retail, and commercial development auctions in accordance with the Navi Mumbai Disposal of Lands (Amendment) Regulations, 2008. Every plot has a deadline for obtaining an occupation certificate as well as a building schedule. Even after amnesty.
“We are currently reviewing leased plots with no construction. Further cancellations and auctions will follow in the coming months,” a CIDCO official said to media.
Recently, in accordance with the Punjab and Haryana high court's orders, the Haryana department of town and country planning (DTCP) has suggested that the occupancy certificates of 745 homes in DLF phases one, two, and three be revoked for breaking building codes and engaging in unlawful commercial activity, according to officials.
After sending show cause and restoration warnings to the owners of these properties for failing to take corrective action or remove infractions, the enforcement wing of DTCP claimed it had written to the planning wing. According to the government, the homeowners' infractions are not compoundable, which means that paying a fine will not result in the charges being withdrawn.
