Atelier Bobby Aggarwal is excited to unveil its third limited edition collection, Denscity – There’s a Moon Hanging on My City. The collection captures the essence of urban landscapes, where vibrant chaos meets quiet decay. Whether bold and bustling or faded and forgotten, the dense clusters of the city form a visually dynamic tapestry that speaks to the senses.
There’s a striking calmness in this urban disorder, a “method to the madness” that invites us to appreciate the beauty in the seemingly imperfect and the rhythm of life that unfolds within it. The simplicity and imperfection of these spaces — from their winding streets to unexpected architectural angles—echo perspectives seen in a Pichwai painting.
“I find a quiet nobility in how these spaces evolve — whether in small villages, bustling towns, or grand, historic cities like Bombay and Calcutta, where compact, three-story buildings have endured decades of change.” – Bobby Aggarwal
For this collection, Atelier Bobby Aggarwal has used found waste wood, paired with leather (in bold blacks and whites), and brass to create a sense of drama.
The concept of “A Moon Hanging Over My City” evokes the idea of contrasting, yet harmonious elements: “the balance in chaos,” with an underlying order that reveals itself over time. There’s a unique beauty and mysteriously balanced aesthetics in the unplanned growth of urban cities, villages, and townships that develop organically over time. These unstructured clusters form a tapestry of intriguing compositions that engage our senses.
Each piece — such as the ‘LaLuna’ coffee table and sideboard, and the ‘Walkeshwar Tower’ cabinet — offers a view that is both captivating and whimsical. Their forms reference winding streets and unexpected architectural perspectives, much like buildings seen in a Pichwai painting.
There’s a striking harmony in the chaos, balanced by an underlying sense of order, creating a perfect frame for appreciating the “method in the madness” of these spaces.
