Pachmarhi which has an unequalled natural beauty as well as rich historical background is being made into one of the most favored tourist spots by eliminating the infrastructural bottlenecks and developing world class facilities.
The project is one of the components of the broader efforts of the state to transform heritage-based destinations to become centers of sustainable and experience-based tourism. Pachmarhi main entrance has been grandly beautified at a cost of Rs. 35 lakh and Satpura Retreat has been given a new image with a state-of-the-art kitchen, restaurant and swimming pool at an investment of Rs. 1.35 crore.
In the meantime, a complete development to the tune of Rs. 1.98 crore is in progress at Handi Khoh comprising temporary sheds, safety railings, amphitheatre, parking, accessible ramps and approach paths to enhance visitor comfort and accessibility. There is development of basic amenities at important eco-tourism attractions in the Satpura Tiger Reserve, including Bee Fall, Mahadev, Chauragarh, Duchess Fall, Ramya Kund, Reechgarh, Foot Hill and Shailanjali at a cost of Rs. 2.13 crore.
There is also the heritage Hilltop Bungalow which is being converted into a Heritage Homestay at a cost of Rs. 6.70 crore; with four luxury rooms, library, swimming pool, kitchen, restaurant and tasteful landscaping. There is also a community centre under construction at a cost of Rs. 9.90 crore that will be a multipurpose facility used as a wedding venue, convention centre and high level meetings with an indoor hall that will seat 500 people and an outdoor lawn that will seat 600 people.
Hotel Glen View is coming up with a central nursery with an investment of Rs. 34 lakh to help the process of greening and landscaping of Pachmarhi. The major sightseeing places in Pachmarhi are getting a new infrastructure and visitor facilities. These involve portable drinking water systems, aesthetic pathways, scenic and beautification works and toilets, which are managed by local Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and which guarantee not just sanitation, but also livelihood provision to rural folk.
The hill station received 2,87,579 visitors in 2024 alone; this is expected to increase vastly with the new facilities becoming functional.

Tourists will now be able to get clean drinking water at Dhoopgarh, the highest point in Madhya Pradesh (1,350 metres). This has been actualized by the establishment of a water pipeline and pump house which have been developed at a cost of Rs. 60 lakh.
In addition, Pink Toilet Lounges have been developed at sacred places like Jatashankar and Pandav Caves, with an investment of Rs. 19 lakh so far, making it more convenient to the women travellers. There is also development of a stone-paved 4 km long road in Jaystambh area at an allocation of Rs 10 crore, with ambient lighting and fancy seating arrangement.
