Noida Homebuyers holds Shankhnaad Protest Over Delayed Property Registries

Homebuyers from 32 societies, including 7x sectors and Sectors 141, 167, and 137, staged a conch shell (shankhnaad) protest within their societies on Sunday evening.

The demonstration reflected their growing frustration over the delay in property registries. They also called for the implementation of the original Amitabh Kant Committee report and urged the chief minister to intervene.

Currently, nearly one lakh property registries remain pending in Noida, with around 25,000 affecting homebuyers in the 7x and nearby sectors, impacting over 1.5 lakh residents.

Meanwhile, 16 residents from Skytech Matrott, Sector 7x, who are visiting Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, held a banner protest there to raise awareness about the issue. Earlier, on January 26, they also organized a black flag protest.

On Saturday, tensions escalated as residents of Supertech Eco Village 1 and 2 expressed their anger over the professional appointed by the NCLT court to address their registry concerns. They accused the official of delaying action for the past three years, ignoring homebuyers’ grievances.

Residents demanded that authorities recover dues from builders by auctioning their land, projects, or private assets. They emphasized that their continuous protests aim to draw the attention of the Noida Authority and the Uttar Pradesh government to resolve the issue.

Saurabh Sinha, a resident of Skytech Matrott, told TOI that he and 16 other homebuyers staged a protest with banners at Mahakumbh. Speaking via teleconference, he described the situation as dire, stating that homebuyers are facing severe financial strain due to the prolonged delay in property registries.
