10 Indian States to get 3.52 lakh New Homes under PMAY-U 2.0

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has authorized the construction of more than 3.52 lakh homes in ten states and Union territories, according to a statement released on Friday.

According to the ministry's statement, the approval was granted during a Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC) meeting on Thursday, which was presided over by HUA Secretary Srinivas Katikithala.

The statement claims that the program encourages women's empowerment and that out of the 2.67 lakh homes authorized on March 20 under PMAY-U 2.0, 90 homes for transgender people and more than 2.67 lakh homes for women only—including widows and single women—have been granted.

It further stated that 80,850 of the total sanctioned residences are for Scheduled Caste beneficiaries, 15,928 are for Scheduled Tribes, and 2,12,603 are for Other Backward Classes, fostering equity and inclusivity among various marginalized groups.

More than 2.67 lakh homes, including those for widows and single women, have been approved specifically for women in an effort to empower them. Ninety houses have also been designated for transsexual people. The authorized homes comprise 2,12,603 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 15,928 for Scheduled Tribes (ST), and 80,850 for Scheduled Caste (SC) beneficiaries in an effort to promote inclusivity. Under PMAY-U 2.0, the Uttar Pradesh government is offering additional financial aid. Each senior citizen beneficiary over 70 years of age would receive Rs. 30,000, while unmarried women between 40 and 40, widows, and separated female beneficiaries will receive Rs. 20,000.

 “A total of 3,52,915 lakh houses under Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) and Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP) components of PMAY-U 2.0 in 10 States/UTs, namely Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh has been sanctioned,” the Housing Ministry said.
