YG Design Studio Transforms Raw 4BHK into Ripple-Inspired Luxury

Interior designer Yesha Gada has transformed a 2,000 sq. ft. raw apartment in Mumbai into a fluid, ripple-inspired luxury residence that blends craftsmanship, architectural curves, and tactile materials. Designed by YG Design Studio, the four-bedroom home reinterprets modern urban living through a concept the studio calls “The Ripple Effect.”

The project began with a rare opportunity: a completely raw flat. Without the constraints of structural interruptions, the design team was able to sculpt the interior environment from the ground up. The fluid layout now accommodates a master suite, parents’ bedroom, kids’ room, guest bedroom, along with a study nook and a serene mandir.

At the heart of the design lies what the studio calls “The Ripple Effect.” This motif becomes the visual and emotional anchor of the home. In the living room, a sculptural ripple ceiling design installation introduces a rhythmic play of curves and light, drawing the eye upward while softening the architectural envelope. The same language extends to the bespoke mandir doors, where layered ripple patterns reinterpret spiritual symbolism through a contemporary luxury home interiors lens.

Speaking about the project, Yesha Gada, Founder and Principal Designer at YG Design Studio, said the team wanted the home to feel fluid and calming rather than rigid. “When we first walked into the apartment, it was a completely raw shell with no columns or spatial definitions. That gave us the rare opportunity to sculpt the home from scratch. The ripple concept allowed us to introduce curves, arches, and layered textures that gently guide movement through the home while maintaining warmth and quiet sophistication,” she said.

Rather than relying on rigid spatial divisions, the design uses arches and soft radius forms to guide circulation. Doorways curve instead of cutting sharply into spaces, allowing rooms to transition organically. This architectural softness establishes a calm continuity while contrasting with the boxy geometry often seen in urban apartments.

The passageway also becomes a functional spine of the home, integrating a quiet study corner and a dedicated mandir interior design space without interrupting movement. These transitional areas are transformed into purposeful design moments within the overall modern residential interior design narrative.

Materiality further reinforces the home’s quiet luxury. Expansive marble flooring interiors anchor the space with a sense of permanence, while tactile surfaces such as fluted cabinetry, textured wall claddings, and matte finishes introduce warmth and depth.

In the master bedroom, fluted oak panels paired with brushed gold accents create a restrained yet sophisticated headboard wall, complemented by soft textiles and neutral palettes that enhance the calm atmosphere. The space reflects the growing trend of contemporary luxury homes that balance elegance with comfort.

Each bedroom introduces subtle variations in character while maintaining the home’s cohesive aesthetic. The kids’ room brings a slightly livelier tone, while the balcony features earthy travertine stone balcony finishes that evoke a sunset-like warmth against the otherwise neutral palette.

Instead of overt ornamentation, the home celebrates craft, proportion, and texture. Matte finishes replace gloss, curves replace sharp edges, and materials are chosen for both their tactile and visual qualities.
