Ventive Hospitality Leads Coral Restoration in Maldives

Ventive Hospitality Maldives

Ventive Hospitality is strengthening its ocean conservation efforts across its Maldives resorts — Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli, Naladhu Private Island, and Conrad Maldives Rangali Island — through large-scale coral restoration and monitoring programs.

These initiatives combine marine science, sustainability, and guest engagement to protect and regenerate the region’s fragile reef ecosystems. At Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, one of the Maldives’ most active coral restoration projects is underway.

As a PADI Five-Star Dive Resort and Eco Center, the property maintains 50 coral frames supporting around 2,750 coral fragments.

Key Highlights

  • 3,575 coral fragments under restoration at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
  • 14,455 coral fragments integrated under Anantara’s HARP initiative
  • Guests can join “Adopt a Coral” to support reef regeneration

Along with 400 fragments planted directly onto the reef and 425 in mid-water nurseries — totaling 3,575 corals under restoration. In 2025, an additional 40 fragments will be cultivated and transplanted from its in-house coral nursery.

Meanwhile, Anantara Dhigu, Veli, and Naladhu Private Island continue their Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP) initiative, now in its seventh year. Across the three islands, 7,916 corals have been planted, with 6,539 successfully outplanted and 14,455 fragments integrated into surrounding reefs. Over 2,422 coral colonies are being actively monitored through 350 hours of fieldwork.

Marine biologist Dr. Oriana Migliaccio, who leads the program, has identified coral species Montipora digitata and Porites cylindrica as more resilient to bleaching — shaping future restoration strategies.

“For me, this project is not just a job; it’s a mission from the heart,” Dr. Migliaccio said. “As we say in Italy, la bellezza salverà il mondo — beauty will save the world.”

“True luxury lies in protecting the natural treasures that surround us,” said Ranjit Batra, CEO, Ventive Hospitality. “By investing in marine science and restoration, we ensure that our guests experience beauty with responsibility — luxury that sustains rather than depletes.”
