Key Highlights
"During the calendar year 2025, a total of 5,039 complaints were filed, and they issued orders on as many as 6,945 complaints during this period, thereby providing significant relief to the homebuyers. In the earlier years, specifically in 2024, a total of 3,824 cases were resolved, compared to 2,784 in 2023. The number of complaints filed in 2024 was 3,880, and 4,000 in 2023," MahaRERA said in a statement.
For the first time, MahaRERA introduced a streamlined system ensuring that complaints are acknowledged and scheduled for hearings within one to two months of filing.
In terms of project regulation, MahaRERA issued 4,282 project registration numbers in 2025, reinforcing Maharashtra’s position as the state with the highest number of housing projects in India. District-wise registrations included Pune (1,144 projects), Mumbai Suburban (587), Thane (675), Mumbai City (103), Raigad (384), Nashik (283), Nagpur (281), and Palghar (258).
MahaRERA highlighted that 481 planning authorities across the state grant construction-related permissions. Verification of Commencement Certificates (CCs) has historically been challenging, with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) being the only authority fully integrated digitally with MahaRERA.
