MahaRERA Resolves 5,267 Homebuyer Complaints in 10 Months

The Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has announced that it resolved 5,267 homebuyer complaints between October 2024 and July 2025.

The cases addressed issues such as delayed possession, poor construction quality, and missing amenities, offering relief to buyers across the state. The update comes as MahaRERA chairman Manoj Saunik completes one year in office, after taking over from Ajoy Mehta in September 2024. During the same 10-month period, MahaRERA also received 3,743 new complaints. Since its inception in May 2017, the authority has handled 30,833 complaints, of which 23,726 have been resolved.

These include 23,661 complaints linked to 3,523 pre-RERA projects and 6,218 complaints from 2,269 projects launched after RERA’s creation.

MahaRERA highlighted that 79 percent of complaints relate to pre-RERA projects, while 21 percent are from post-RERA projects, underscoring the persistent issues in older developments. Currently, 51,481 projects are registered across Maharashtra, with cases filed against 5,792 projects.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to protecting homebuyers, stressing that individuals often invest their lifetime savings in purchasing homes and deserve timely redressal of grievances. By addressing complaints promptly, MahaRERA continues to play a critical role in ensuring accountability in the real estate sector and safeguarding the interests of consumers.
