ITC Hotels Eyes Dubai and Overseas Markets for Luxury Expansion

ITC Hotels is evaluating management contracts for luxury and premium properties in Dubai and other nearby international markets as it targets 250 hotels and 22,000 keys by 2031, while expanding its asset-light portfolio.

ITC Hotels is evaluating opportunities to manage luxury and premium properties in Dubai and other international markets as the hospitality company seeks to expand its overseas presence. The company is considering multiple management-contract opportunities while maintaining a broader focus on growing its domestic portfolio.

Managing Director Anil Chadha said the company is assessing several opportunities in Dubai, where tourism and business activity are expected to recover. The expansion is being considered alongside opportunities in other “proximal” international markets, reflecting ITC Hotels' preference for markets that can be managed within its wider regional operating network.

The company currently has an international presence in Sri Lanka and is preparing to enter Nepal, with a new hotel planned in the country. Dubai could provide another opportunity to establish a stronger presence outside India, particularly in the luxury and premium hospitality segments.

ITC Hotels is pursuing an expansion strategy that combines owned properties with management contracts. The company aims to reach 250 operational hotels with around 22,000 rooms by 2031. The approach allows the company to expand its brand portfolio while limiting the capital required for directly owning every property.

The international expansion comes as the hospitality sector continues to adapt to changing travel patterns and geopolitical conditions. Dubai remains an important global destination for business and leisure travellers, although regional instability could influence tourism flows and operating conditions.

Alongside geographical expansion, ITC Hotels is also focusing on strengthening its premium and luxury offerings in India. The company is looking beyond major metropolitan markets as it seeks to capture demand from emerging business centres, leisure destinations and growing tourism hubs.

Technology is another area receiving attention. ITC Hotels is working on the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies to modernise hotel operations and improve efficiency. These initiatives could support the company's expansion by helping standardise processes across a larger network.

The company's recent financial performance has also provided a stronger base for expansion. Its income increased by 19%, while profit after tax rose 29%, according to the report.

For ITC Hotels, the Dubai opportunity is therefore part of a broader strategy rather than a standalone international move. Management contracts could allow the company to enter overseas markets with comparatively lower capital requirements while extending its luxury and premium brands to new customer bases.

The evaluation of Dubai and other nearby markets signals ITC Hotels' intent to build a more geographically diversified hospitality portfolio. If the opportunities under consideration progress, the company could strengthen its international footprint while continuing its larger domestic expansion programme.
