IHCL Expands to 628 Hotels, Targets 700 by 2030

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has further solidified its leadership in the Indian hospitality sector, reaching a total portfolio of 628 hotels, including 373 operational properties and a pipeline of 255 hotels.

This growth marks FY2026 as a milestone year, driven by a combination of inorganic expansion and sustained organic development.

A key highlight of IHCL’s strategy is the strong expansion of its midscale segment, led by its brand Ginger Hotels. The brand has surpassed 250 hotels across more than 150 locations, supported by acquisitions such as ANK and Pride Hospitality.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, highlighted that the company recorded 250 hotel signings during the fiscal year. This included a strategic push across segments, with notable expansion in the luxury space through the onboarding of Claridges Collection and the acquisition of a controlling stake in Atmantan, alongside Brij Hospitality in the experiential leisure segment.

On the organic growth front, IHCL continued to expand its flagship luxury brand Taj Hotels, adding 19 new signings. These include an international property in Cairo, a 500-key hotel in Patna, and a mixed-use development in Noida featuring both a hotel and branded residences.

Meanwhile, the reimagined Gateway Hotels brand crossed the milestone of 50 hotels, reflecting strong traction in the upscale segment. Through acquisitions, IHCL added over 100 operating hotels, significantly boosting its inventory to 373 operational properties with more than 33,000 rooms.

This dual approach of acquisitions and organic growth has enabled the company to scale rapidly while diversifying its portfolio across segments and geographies. With this momentum, IHCL remains firmly on track to achieve its “Accelerate 2030” vision, which targets a portfolio of 700 hotels.

Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – Hotel Openings & New Businesses, IHCL, noted that the company opened over 30 hotels during the fiscal year. IHCL entered new destinations such as Lakshadweep, Ekta Nagar, Raichak, Kanpur, Vrindavan, and Bhutan, while further consolidating its presence in key markets including Goa, Ahmedabad, Coorg, Kochi, Gurugram, Delhi, Varanasi, Udaipur, Haridwar, and Dehradun.

The company’s expansion strategy underscores its focus on capturing rising domestic and international travel demand, while strengthening its position across luxury, upscale, and midscale hospitality segments.
