Hyatt to Open 10 New Hotels Annually Across India

Hyatt Hotels, a top hospitality brand in the world, is accelerating its presence in India with plans to open over 10 new hotels every year, targeting about 150 properties within the next five to six years. The expansion plan is a sign of India being one of Hyatt's top three markets in the world, after only the U.S. and China, and also expresses the country's rapidly growing need for high-end travel experiences.

“Our vision is to match India’s rapid economic and tourism growth with world-class hospitality options. We’re investing in both luxury hotels and branded residences to cater to the evolving needs of domestic and international travelers.” A Hyatt Hotels spokesperson said.

Key highlights:

  • Hyatt aims to open over 10 new hotels annually, targeting 150 properties in India within the next five to six years
  • The company is focusing on both luxury hotels and branded residences, catering to high-end vacationers, business travelers, and long-stay guests
  • International brands like Destination by Hyatt and Caption by Hyatt, along with Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Zilara, aim to offer authentic local experiences and attract younger, experience-driven travelers

Hyatt's strategy is to grow its portfolio from traditional hotels to branded residences targeting wealthy travelers and longer-stay visitors. With this dual target, the company can reach a wider portion of the market, from high-end vacationers to business leaders.

New international brands like Destination by Hyatt in Jaipur and upcoming Caption by Hyatt will give India's hospitality landscape more diversity, while products like Hyatt Centric and Hyatt Zilara are developed to appeal to younger guests looking for genuine local immersion.

Industry analysts claim Hyatt's strategy complements India's varied tourism products—ranging from spirituality in Rishikesh to beach destinations in Goa and Kerala—and is keyed to the country's enhanced connectivity and growing disposable incomes.

"With India becoming a major driver of hospitality growth for the world, Hyatt's expansion through new hotels and experiences is poised to raise the bar on travel in India," added the spokesperson.
