Started in 2015, the company represents years of on-ground experience, developed both in luxury residences and commercial projects. Its foundation is anchored in a transparent process and a robust design spine, which started years before the studio was officially formed.
Design Process Behind Each Space
The company’s work carries a clear visual language. Classical royal motifs are perfectly matched with modern design, and textured layers and fine detailing become the priority. Interiors tend to develop tones of jewels on a neutral background, with a sense in which the art, furniture, and lighting carry color with restraint. Materials such as wood, stone, brass, leather, and Italian marble look not as statements, but as anchors.

“Each area is visualized through material and color assemblies, helping clients make quicker, more confident decisions. A Practice Built Through Years of Work
Suraj Dutta started his career in 2006, after completing his studies in design at Rizvi College of Architecture. His initial practice was at Talati & Panthaky Associates where he developed his aesthetic while managing luxury residential and commercial projects. This was followed by a stint with SRPL Group, where he worked on designing the Mainland China restaurant chain. These jobs enhanced his understanding of scope, brand identity, and performance.
Before going independent, he co-founded SIZ & Associates, a partnership firm that received recognition from leading design publications. That phase reinforced the value of collaboration and discipline. When Suraj Dutta & Associates was formally established, it carried forward these learnings with a quieter confidence.
The person behind the practice remains deeply involved in the creative process. From chandeliers and sculptures to his own paintings, self-designed elements often find their way into projects. Yet, the work never feels author-driven. Client stories and lifestyles are filtered through his artistic lens, allowing spaces to feel personal rather than imposed.
