The Senator Group

The Senator Group India, subsidiary of the UK headquartered ‘The Senator Group’, one of the largest office furniture manufacturers in the world known for its focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability, announced the introduction of ‘Ricco’, the next-gen office chair with swivel mechanism, that redefines simplicity created through a meticulous and scientific process of reduction, designed for agile work environments, including meeting rooms, touchdown spaces, and conference areas.

Designed by Martin Ballendat, the globally renowned industrial designer, ‘Ricco’ is a chair born from a single swoosh.

Not only visually and physically lightweight but also a remarkable feat of engineering, it offers unparalleled comfort, flexing and moving intuitively to adapt seamlessly to the user’s every movement. The inspiration behind the creation of ‘Ricco ‘was about creating a next-gen universally usable and comfortable swivel chair with a maximum of few parts and a maximum of reduced design elements, which appears transparent, airy, light and welcome.

“Ricco redefines simplicity as it focuses on stripping away unnecessary elements to emphasize form and purpose. Simplicity doesn’t mean compromising functionality; instead, it enhances usability by prioritizing practicality and intuitive design. Ricco is honoured with a HiP Award for Workplace Task Seating, Ricco has been awarded for its innovative design that combines minimalist elegance with adaptive comfort tailored for dynamic work environments, “said Vamsidharr Setty - Managing Director India, The Senator Group. “It also promotes sustainability, as simpler designs often require fewer resources and are more adaptable to various work environments. In essence, simplicity is celebration to efficiency, beauty and longevity.”

The Ricco chair is characterized by its lightweight, minimalistic design and innovative features:

  • Design and Comfort: The Ricco features a visually striking and simple aesthetic with a "singular, flowing line" or "swoosh" design that aims for both visual lightness and exceptional comfort. It challenges the notion that minimalism is cold, maximizing both comfort and style. The chair's design is described as uncomplicated, flexing and moving intuitively to provide comfort.
  • Latest Technology: The Ricco incorporates a "Pivot-tec" system, an engineering solution with three pivot points that enables an integrated, weight-activated, and synchronized reclining mechanism. This means the chair adjusts to the user's weight and movements without the need for manual adjustments, promoting natural balance and movement. It also features a self-supporting mesh seat and back crafted from a special blend of boucle and nylon monofilament yarns, providing breathability and support.
  • Sustainability: The Ricco was created with a focus on sustainability, emphasizing reduction in its design to achieve its purest form. Its Health Product Declaration (HPD) details the materials and recycled content used in the chair's construction.
