The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has marked a significant milestone in opening its 250th hotel, Gateway Goa, Palolem, in South Goa.
The 160-key Canacona property is located in the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats and is planned as a modern-day retreat, a mix of immersive storytelling and experiential travel. With panorama views in the Rajbagh, Patnem, and Colomb beaches, the hotel situates itself as the entry point into the less crowded, culturally rich coast of South Goa.
Key Highlights
The new hotel strengthens the growing leisure portfolio of IHCL and the rebranded Gateway brand now covers 36 hotels. In addition to its picturesque location, the hotel focuses on guided experiences, with such local activities as feni-making, kayaking and turtle watching, to attract travellers who want to engage in more cultural-oriented activities.
Architecturally, the property is an extension of its environment because of the Mediterranean influence of color, natural materials, and context design by Prabhu Realtors. One of the highlights is its art-inspired story inspired by Mosu Design Studio and incorporates customised installations throughout the hotel. The design reminisces coastal and nautical themes with a dramatic glass mosaic in the lobby to the layered wooden artworks and moving installed fish.

Gateway Goa, Palolem offers an alternative to the traditional tourism strategy of Goa with its combination of art, culture, and subtle luxury.
