Drones PLI sees enormous success! Working on regulations, says Aviation Secretary

As per the Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunmang Vualnam, PLI - The Performance Linked Incentive, a scheme for drone has been successful till now.

During the CII National Conference focused on Drones, Vualnam says, "In the first year the incentives which were given out were linked to the sale of about 800 drones. This improved in the second year with the number of drones which were sold rose to about 1800. Looking forward to the third year of disbursements which is about to happen soon, "Drone PLI has been successful, we will continue to promote Drones”, the aviation secretary added.

According to him, the ministry of Union Civil Aviation will deal with DPIIT & Finance Ministry to note how the drone manufacturers & component makers can correspondingly be incentivised.

Highlighting that the government is working at how it can distinguish the regulatory system for civilian & industrial drones & defence drones, Vualnam underscores, "Moving forward there will be differentiated regulations for drones with civilian, industrial, public use and law and order and defence use, we have to ensure that both are promoted and supported in the best possible way."

Further the secretary of Aviation stated, "Identification rules have been liberalised. Documentation for remote pilot license, etc, are being simplified. We will see how we can move further processes into an online platform – to facilitate ease of activity, ease of doing business."
