CREDAI Tamil Nadu

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, today formally launched the Coimbatore Master Plan 2041, a comprehensive and forward-thinking roadmap designed to guide the city’s development over the next two decades.

Prepared by the Department of Town and Country Planning, with active support from industry stakeholders including CREDAI Tamil Nadu, the plan presents a long-term vision to address the challenges of urbanisation and enable sustainable, inclusive growth. Coimbatore is rapidly emerging as Tamil Nadu’s fastest-growing district after Chennai.

The new master plan responds to this pace of change by preparing the region to meet the needs of an estimated population of 6 million by 2041, while enhancing its industrial base, IT infrastructure, and education sector, and significantly improving mobility and connectivity.

  • Strengthening of manufacturing hubs, IT infrastructure, and educational institutions
  • An estimated Rs. 56,000 crore investment over 16 years for comprehensive implementation
  • Strategic planning to tackle the pressures of urbanisation while fostering economic, environmental, and social equity
  • The Master Plan 2041 spans an area of 1,532 square kilometres and has been developed using GIS-based spatial mapping and multidisciplinary inputs. It adopts a balanced land-use approach, covering residential, industrial, agricultural, and environmental zones.

Welcoming the launch, W.S. Habib, President of CREDAI Tamil Nadu, said, “We sincerely thank the Hon’ble Chief Minister for unveiling the Coimbatore Master Plan 2041. This plan reflects a bold and timely vision for one of Tamil Nadu’s key urban centres. With its emphasis on sustainability, connectivity, and economic growth, it provides a clear and actionable framework for future development. CREDAI Tamil Nadu is proud to support the government in this transformative endeavour.”
