Asian Paints, India’s largest paint manufacturer, has announced plans to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with an investment of Rs. 1,500–2,000 crore.
The proposed unit will focus on water-based paints, with a projected annual production capacity of 4 lakh kilolitres (kl), taking the company’s total installed capacity to 26 lakh kl. Managing Director and CEO Amit Syngle confirmed that land acquisition has been completed, and the company is in the process of securing necessary regulatory approvals.
Key Highlights
Asian Paints already operates large-scale plants across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The expansion reflects strong demand driven by government-led infrastructure projects and a revival in the automotive sectors, which are fueling growth in the coatings market.
With over 1.65 lakh dealers across India and 4,000–5,000 dealers added annually, the company continues to reinforce its distribution strength. Syngle also noted industry changes, stating, “We expect more consolidation in the paint industry and new foreign players in coming months.”
