Creating an elegant and affluent interior without a proper shade of lighting is like your favorite dish without a proper seasoning. For an interior design to reflect a luxurious aesthetic, the lighting plays a pivotal role. Lighting has a premium power to transform every nook and corner of the dwelling by elevating the whole ambiance, enhancing colors & textures, and highlighting architectural features. Further, a proper shade and shape of lighting gives the overall interior design a perfect shape which assists the owner and designer to create a functional and inviting atmosphere in any room.

The aesthetics of modern designs & tech-infused products in the lighting industry will continue to be the focal point of interior design that turns every dark corner into colorful space

The perfect arrangement of lighting is all about the balance of light and shade which infuses a new energy to an interior. Good lighting not only adds an elegant factor to your room, but it transforms the whole ambiance offering a comfortable, dramatic, and atmospheric vibe. In addition, it focuses on depth & height, cozy spots, draws attention to the most impressive areas, and also provides a welcoming effect for the visitors. So, before proceeding into a new venture of interior design, careful planning is required to ensure that the light fixtures, light sources, and light levels complement the room’s purpose and design style.

Role of Lighting in Improvising Modern Interiors
Lighting is one of the most important pillars when it comes to complete interior design because whatever you have planned or done to the interiors if you are not able to showcase it well with proper lighting, there is no justice done to it. Whatever looks good makes you feel good. Lighting has that spark of elegance that not only brightens up your space but also lightens up your mood to cope with today's stressful life. Whether it is natural light or artificial light both bring up visual stimulation and accentuate specific features in the space. At the same time, be it modern, contemporary, or rustic interiors, the level of illumination varies.

Notably, lighting has a drastic impact on interiors and humans, a perfectly lit-up room reflects as more spacious and inviting, on the contrary, a poorly lit-up room can make it feel dingy and uninviting. Also, lighting affects our mood and behavior to a large extent. Bright, cool-toned shade of light can increase focus and concentration, while dimmer cum warmer lighting can induce relaxation and calmness. Innovatively designed and arranged lighting makes the whole scenario to be more creative, by revamping the color of the flooring, the color of the upholstery, fabric, wall paint, and more.

Various Lights in the Landscape of Interior Design
We can segregate the lighting into three major types of lighting. One is ambient lighting, the second one is task lighting, and the third one is accent lighting. So, depending on what we want to highlight or what the core purpose is, every area or room, especially for multi-purpose areas, we need a mixture of these three lightings, or a homogenous mixture of these to get a proper outcome of the design.

Ambient Lighting: Ambient light is one of the most critical components in lighting for your home because it provides overall illumination to the area and sets a basic tone for the space. It sets a warm, glowy, and cozy tone to your room. It is very soft and it's a diffused light in which we can add dimmable and tunable features to accommodate the different moods of the day and different guests. Not only this, we can also customize to change the color temperature and make it dimmable too.

Ambient lights can be used in the form of floor lamps, pendant lights, wall sconces, uplighting, LED strips, chandeliers, and so on. This type of light is generally used in hallways, stairs, and even in kitchens or in a small home office where fixtures with wide beam angles provide a consistent level of lighting. The LED strips and the pendants help the light to bounce off the ceilings and walls.

Task Lighting: If ambient lighting is the first layer, task lighting is the second coating of lighting design. It is generally a bit brighter than the ambient lighting, but it is glare-free so that we can easily see the light and it doesn't strain our eyes. It helps you to remove shadows while performing specific tasks like cooking, reading a book, doing make-up, or working/studying, task lighting will ensure that you have a good view of what you’re doing. Moreover, it helps you to see tiny details and low-contrast objects. Cabinet lights, bathroom vanity lights, and track lights are some widely used examples of task lighting.

Accent Lighting: This type of lighting is specifically used to highlight any object or any area, for example, artwork furnishing or architectural details that need to be highlighted. It can make all the best features of your home come alive, and take center stage. It is used inside and outside the home and even features in hallway lighting, entrance, or the porch. It seamlessly illuminates visual interest in dark corners & shadowy spots as well as draws further attention toward what you want to highlight. A few examples of lights that come under this are track lights, pot lights, tiltable lights, wall-mounted picture lights, and more.

Adding on to this, statement light pieces like chandeliers offer royal interiors creating very soothing and relaxing spaces. Generally, people in metro cities prefer narrow cutouts and deep recessed lights so that the throw of the light is beautiful. Also, there are smart lights, which can be controlled and customized in nearly 1700 colors through smartphone-based apps.

Colour Rendering Index
Color Rendering Index (CRI) measures the ability of a light source to accurately reproduce the colors of the object it illuminates. CRI is measured on a scale where a higher number represents higher ability, with 100 being the highest. The closer it is to 100, the nearer you will see the original colors of the surroundings around you. The majority of the lighting that is used in commercial as well as residential buildings has CRI 70-80.

Customization of Lighting Elements
In this world of tough corporate life where a moment of relaxation is very important to resume the next day’s schedule, lighting also plays an important role. In this era of modern science and technology, the lighting industry has also transformed its system to a great extent. Now, it is possible to change the tint, shade, & tone of color, dim the light as per our comfort, or make it brighter as per our requirement. Through the magnetic track light, we can even set the angles of light, where it should throw, and where it should not throw. Simultaneously, we can change the color and intensity of light.
Suppose you want to watch a movie in your bedroom on a projector, by leveraging a gamut of features of lighting such as dimming the lights to black them out or switching on the spotlights with smaller wattage to create a cinematic atmosphere. To be precise, you can play with the color of the light, the angles of the light, and the intensity of the light.

Role of Technology in Modern Lighting
Technology is multifaceted due to its elegant and effective functionality and when it comes to lighting, the development of LED lighting is the finest role played by technology, as it offers a myriad of features that help in personalizing and giving a creative touch to your interiors. Since technology is infused in lighting products, they have become even more reliable and economical.
Furthermore, technology is playing an important role in smartphone lighting and automation systems, where these days you have an option of controlling your lights through a remote with a radio frequency controller. Thus, there are app-based lighting where you need a Wi-Fi connection to operate easily, quickly, and efficiently.

Future Outlook of the Lighting Industry
