Emergency LED lightings has been provided to flood-affected houses by Signify, a global leader in lighting, in response to the disastrous floods that hit the West Tripura district. As part of the company’s “Har Gaon Roshan” CSR program, the project is being carried out in collaboration with the District Administration of the West Tripura district and the Agartala Municipal Corporation, under the direction of Sri Dipak Majumder, Hon’ble Mayor, and Dr. Vishal Kumar, IAS, District Magistrate (DM) and Collector.
The project, which is connected to the Foundation for Integrated Support and Solution (FISS), aims to support the recovery and resilience of impacted communities by providing secure and well-lit areas during power outages.
In the wake of severe floods that devastated electrical infrastructure and pushed towns backwards, emergency lighting emerges as a lifeline, enabling children to study, families to function safely, and threats from hazards to be minimized. In line with the Mayor’s and DM’s vision, Signify is dedicated to bringing light to these neighborhoods by working with neighborhood partners and the District Administration to create a distribution plan that guarantees the prompt and equitable supply of LED emergency bulbs to those who would be most affected.
Through the lighting of the dwellings, the project hopes to improve the lives of some 6600 flood-affected families in the villages of the West Tripura area. The effects of darkness go beyond worries about safety and security during floods; with this project, we hope to enhance those concerns for over 33000 households by offering necessary services and aiding in the return of their lives to a normalcy.
By offering a range of emergency LED illumination, Signify seeks to develop a durable and sustainable solution that will give families quick relief. The goal of this initiative is to use innovation and technology to benefit the communities devastated by the floods by offering basic amenities like lighting solutions that will illuminate the way to a brighter future. It is planned for the project to start in September and finish in November.
Commenting on this collaboration, Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, Govt. Affairs & CSR – Signify, Greater India said, “In line with our #BrighterLivesBetterWorld vision, at Signify, we believe in the transformative power of light, especially in times of need.
