Property Owners can Get e-Khatas within 48 Hours! No more Visits to BBMP Offices

The e-khata, an electronic  version of the classic khata certificate—a digital record that verifies the ownership data of a property in Karnataka—can now be obtained by homeowners without having to go to the Bengaluru municipal corporation offices. According to a statement from Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue) of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), the final e-khata will be sent out within two days of the application being submitted.

"Assistant Revenue Officers (ARO) and caseworkers will review the applications and ensure timely issuance of the final e-khata within the designated timeframe. All 64 AROs are reviewed for disposal of e-khata applications. BBMP ensures that on average pendency is one day of citizen applications. So apply and just wait," Moudgil stated.

According to him, residents of Bengaluru who live inside the BBMP boundaries can now get their final e-khata two days after submitting their application. Requests must be made via the BBMP's official website, bbmpeaasthi.karnataka.gov.in. BBMP offices are not required to be visited.

In October, the BBMP in Bengaluru and other local bodies adopted E-Khata, an electronic counterpart of the conventional Khata certificate. Property owners can apply for, download, and validate their Khata online without having to go to the municipal office thanks to this digital record.

Aadhaar numbers, sale or registered deed numbers, property photos, and an encumbrance certificate that covers the time frame from the property's registration date to October 31, 2024, are among the essential papers that owners simply need to supply in order to receive a khata.

Since the e-Khata was implemented in October 2024, 2.25 lakh e-Khatas have been issued by Bengaluru's municipal corporation, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), according to data from the organization.
