Canvas House: A Modern Pune Home that Blends Subtle Drama with Sculpted Calm

Popularized and coined by Mies Van Der Rohe, the term ‘less is more’ elevates the bare form, revealing the true essence of design and achieving simplicity. Taking cues from this approach and treading on the footsteps is this Pune home. 

This 6500 sq. ft home is designed keeping in mind the homeowner’s brief for clean lines, uncluttered simplicity, subtle hues and a limited material palette - these are the terms that pervade our mind when thought about minimalism. The contemporary allure of the home is dominated by a white and neutral colour palette. 

Infused with natural light and warmth is timeless and classic, with endless possibilities from subdued to statement-making. Owing to the brief and sprucing up orderly aesthetics, the spaces and furniture are organized to utilize every section of the home and establish a neat layout.

Embarking on the home tour through a framed glass door, the formal living area showcases the marble flooring with an inlay and skirtings paired with an overlapping centre table and two statement beige and dark grey sofas placed near the balcony. The touch of gold was added to the white embossed wall to add the change in the look.

With an open plan layout, the dining table is placed on the other edge of the informal living space and highlighted by metal art on the wall. The pooja room was made with a mirror slider that can be opened from both the ends that accommodates maximum people on traditional celebrations in the informal living space.

We believe that each colour has its own energy and vibe and various shades evoke different emotions. The wallpaper on the wall is supported with a lavender colour bed back and the bed furnishes the kid’s room in vibrance and comfort. 

The master bedroom harbours pops of colour through distinct furniture and furnishings—a dash of green, sprinkle of grey at the bed back and dark flooring splash in the space. The wardrobes were made at the site with beautification of bathrooms.

Cumulating the design, the decor is selected to fit harmoniously into the space and furnish a warm vibe with a pleasing atmosphere.
